Want to Write for Gumberoo?
We are always looking for new voices to feature on our site and in our digital publication! Whether it’s an interview, review, or feature, we’d love to hear your take on local music! Fill out the form below and our editor will be in touch!
How do I get published with Gumberoo?
If you’ve already written your piece, go ahead and submit an excerpt of it (between 100-150 words) using the form below. If our editors think it’ll be a good fit, they’ll reach out and discuss next steps. If you haven’t go ahead and submit your pitch for the kind of piece and who you’ll be featuring and/or interviewing. We might be able to assist in reaching out to the artist for comment or conversation.
Will my work be included on the blog or the magazine?
It really just depends! Usually, for writers we haven’t worked with before, we’ll publish your first piece with us on our website, and depending on traffic and reception, decide if we want to move forward with a new piece for the magazine.
What does this pay?
We are 100% team pay-creatives-for-their-work, but we’ll be honest, right now we’re a broke startup.
At this time work will be featured for publication purposes only, meaning that, while you won’t get paid, all contributors will considered officially published. They’ll also (of course) have their name included in the writing credits for the piece, which will be linked to a contributor’s bio page hosted on our site, with authors’ photo, self-written bio, and links to their social media platforms.
We are hoping to offer per-word payouts for our digital magazine contributors as of our first issue of 2026.
